Whether you’re coming by our offices or another Houston bookkeeper, there are some documents you need to bring with you.
If looking for tax help, it’s a no brainer that all tax documents be brought in. This includes everything from W-2s to 1099s and even last year’s tax return. If looking for help with back taxes, bring the most recent tax return you have. It doesn’t matter if it is many years old. Another key item in tax preparation is a spreadsheet of all your allowable expenses and deductions, such as business miles or health expenses. If you don’t have a spreadsheet program on your computer, there are free alternatives. Do not bring in a shoebox of receipts, unless you’re looking for bookkeeping services.
If coming in for bookkeeping services in Houston, bring all your relevant forms on income and expenses, which include bank statements, rent information, health insurance bills, credit card information, payroll, and other related information. Those who don’t know which service they want may ask about the pro’s and con’s of other bookkeeping services. These include payroll services, financial statements, and bank reconciliation.
You will need to choose at least three names when looking to set up a corporation. It will be registered with the Texas Secretary of State and must be unique. A good idea is to do a simple web search for the names. You will either stumble onto a site – meaning it’s taken. Or you will not get a match, and the name may be open. In order to set up a corporation, forms must be filed with both the state government and Internal Revenue Service. Because this is such a delicate process, many in the Houston area choose to get help when setting up a corporation.
