B&J Bookkeeping love to help all of our clients make the most of their money. Business gifts are an important part of keeping clients happy, while reminding them who you are and what you do. Below we offer our bookkeepers guide to Black Friday 2021 to choose the best and save you money.
1. Make it Personal
Your clients may receive tons of gifts this holiday season. You don’t want your muffin basket, flower arrangement, or other forgettable gift to get tossed to the side. You know your client’s needs and wants. At least someone on your staff does. Get together to come up with several ideas in order to choose the best.
2. Don’t Forget the Card
Be sure to send out Christmas and holiday cards this year. Don’t be afraid to personalize these either. For example, a friend of ours does windows for religious institutions. However, their business was about 75% Christian, 25% Jewish. They took the time to send Christmas cards to the right parties and Hanukah cards to the other right parties. Details like this can make all the difference when making your business stand out.
3. Shop Around
Now that you know what to get, be sure to shop around for the items on all sites. A savings of just a few dollars per item can add up big when factoring in the number of gifts you have to buy. However, we urge you to shop the local stores and Mom and Pops whenever you can in order to help them with their COVID recovery. You can also use user based sites like Etsy to get creators to make custom gifts just for you.
4. Don’t Forget to Save the Receipts
You should save the receipt for all business expenses including any gifts, cards, etc you may send. We recommend using a bookkeeping software or spreadsheet to document the following:
- Name of person or business gift was bought for.
- Date business gift was bought.
- Dollar amount of the business gift.
- Store or website where business gift was purchased.
- You may even jot down what the business gift was so you don’t rebuy it next year.
