You may have heard about the Amazon settlement and probably use it for your business or personal needs. However, they recently came under fire for alleged bad practices regarding Prime accounts. Here is how to claim your business share of the Amazon Prime $2.5 billion settlement.

What is The Amazon Prime Settlement?

Late last month, Amazon settled with the Federal Trade Commission instead of going to trial regarding accusations they tricked users into signing up for Prime accounts, then made it exceptionally difficult to cancel. Part of the settlement calls for $1.5 billion to be set aside for Prime subscribers who fell under this umbrella. The max pay out for those who qualify will be $51 per account.

Do I Qualify?

To qualify, you must have had a business or personal account with Amazon Prime in the United States between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025. You must have also attempted to cancel the account between that time.

Here is a hint on how to see if you attempted to do so:

  1. Sign into your Amazon account.
  2. Click on your Amazon “Memberships and Subscriptions.”
  3. Click on “Payment history,” which you may find under your Prime charges.
  4. See if you have made a payment for a Prime account in that time.

How Do I Get Paid?

The first wave of Amazon payments will be sent automatically to those who have pre-qualified. These payments will go out automatically for 90 days. In addition, it is supposed to be for Prime members with a “challenged enrollment flow.” These members have also not used more than three Prime benefits during a 12 month period. Finally, the rest will be sent a link where they can file to see if they qualify for the settlement.
